Welcome to The Learncloud
The LearnCloud is an ambitious project to build the world's largest crowdsourced collection of free learning
materials available online. You're joining a community of people around the world who believe that learning
should be affordable and accessible to all.
Here's a 40 second video that explains what the LearnCloud is.
What kind of content are we looking for?
Add New ContentAt the top-right of your screen, you will see an "Add" button - this is where you can add new content from anywhere on the web to the LearnCloud. Today it accepts Android apps, Apple iOS apps, YouTube videos, PDFs, and website links. More are on the way!
Please do not add copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder.
Once you submit a link to new content, you can customize the graphic, title, description, and assign it into a subject category so others can easily find it.
Content or Collection?Using the toggle, you can view the LearnCloud either as individual items of learning Content (PDFs, videos, apps, and so on) or as Collections of content (multiple pieces of content assembled together).
Think of a collection as a playlist of items that go well together. Those items can be from different sources around the web and in different formats (books, videos, and so on). For example, a Collection might consist of two PDF textbook chapters, four short videos, a math practice app and a math practice game that all work really well together to master a given concept.
Featured ProjectsView our Featured Projects to see how you can help where it's needed most. Click your name in the top right corner and select Featured Projects to read about our highlighted youth education projects around the world. These pages list the topics that children need learning resources for and show how you can fill a gap by finding and adding content to that topic.
Social InteractionWhen you submit content on the LearnCloud, other members of the community can rate, organize and comment on it. This allows the community to work together and share observations and insights.
Do you have a friend who is not on the LearnCloud but might find something interesting? Click SEND to email it to them!
Make a New CollectionCollections are a great way to take individual items and assemble them into something more comprehensive and useful to others who want to learn a concept or subject area. Even better, they can be assembled from items found in different places online, of different formats, and create new connections that help advance free learning for all.
Create a collection by clicking 'Add to Collection' when you're adding a new piece of content, or by clicking '+ Collection' when your cursor is over an existing piece of content. Just like individual Content items, Collections can be rated, commented on, sent to others, and belong to subject categories.
Quality content helps a student learn a concept. There are many places online where you can find a hilarious cat video, but the LearnCloud is not one of them. Likewise with content that is primarily inspirational. We focus on curating educational resources that help students understand something new and master concrete skills, whether related to curriculum or a specific vocation.
READY, STEADY, GO
The LearnCloud is run by non-profit Rumie, named World's Best Social Startup, which uses the LearnCloud at the heart of its quest to bring free learning materials to children in less affluent communities around the world.
